If you live in Saskatchewan you are aware that we have a PST tax in our province. What you may not be aware of is how this tax is about to start affecting the cost to build a new home in Saskatchewan. As of April 1, 2017 we will now have the six percent sales tax applied to both the labour and materials that go into building a new home rather than just the materials. This new requirement will be reflected by the higher ticket prices consumers are going to see on their new homes. Any new homes started after April 1st are subject to this increase. How much will that affect the purchase price you ask? Well, depending on the new home you are thinking of, it could be anywhere from $10,000 and up.
So what's the point of this blog? The point we are making is that now is the time to buy that Saskatchewan home you have been thinking of before the homes that are still PST exempt disappear from the market. You see, if you purchase a new home that was started before the April 1st deadline the old rule applies and you don't have to pay the extra tax. Now is the time to buy a new home from Liberty Homes!
